10 things that make a great (non-comedy) TV series

November 27, 2009

1. One main story arch per season or across the entire series

2. One funny and/or endearing character – eg. Walter Bishop

3. One character that you love to hate – eg. Gaius Baltar

4. A hot, hot female star(s) – eg. Tricia Helfer

5. Logic. Even in fictional shows, logic will determine believability.

6. Thought provoking – episodes/plots that give you talking ammunition at dinners

7. At least 2 good twists per season

8. No loopholes

9. No time travelling… time travelling always comes with loopholes

10. Don’t fuck up the ending of a story arch.

– Better yet, make sure you actually have one.
